I love HGTV, Bravo, & Style channel reality, a la Millionaire Matchmaker, Million Dollar Listing, Whose Wedding Is It Anyway and House Hunters. Real estate, home improvement, wedding-planning and match-making I can learn from.

Okay, Millionaire Matchmaker is more of a guilty pleasure.

And so are Keeping up with the Kardashians, Giuliana & Bill, The Real World & Jersey Shore

There is a chance that I am either: (a) getting to be a grumpy old man, (b) too busy to enjoy simple things, or (c) both.

Just out of curiousity, how many hours of TV do you watch per week? Is an average reality show one hour, or 30 minutes?

    Cheers,

    -Halla

I have a DVR, so those are what I record. No commercials. I watch about an hour or two a day, not counting movies.

When I was working... zero television. No time or interest.

I mainly watch TV with my mom for bonding purposes. Never by myself.

    That's smart and efficient.

That's actually very sweet. Good for you for keeping an active relationship with your Mom. My Mom means the world to me.

I always think that I'm going to disagree when people say that they don't like reality TV... then I read the examples provided, and most of the answers are "oh my, I'd never watch that" and "huh? Never heard of it". So you can count me on board with the general hate with the following exceptions:

    • The Amazing Race - even when the contestants aren't likable, the scenery and cultural stuff is fun to see.
    • The Mole (years ago when Anderson Cooper was the host... NOT Celebrity Mole ()).
    • Survivor (sort of played out, but hey, I'd still do it)
    • Deadliest Catch -- which I consider more of a documentary... sort of.

Basically, if it's a show that I'd like to be ON, I can enjoy it. Well, except for Deadliest Catch.. brr. I just find that interesting.

If it involves judges, celebrities, "dating", or "follow a famewhore's daily life", I'm instantly and irrevocably repelled.

I do so agree with this.

I have some guilty pleasures, ngl. But I love Intervention. I have heard it described as "emotional pornography" before. And it is pretty hardcore for most, certainly a program that is not for everyone. But for some reason I'm drawn to it. I guess because I am a sucker for a transformation.

Question for the fans of ghost shows: Respectfully, there are so many shows like this now, do you ever just wish they would either show ghosts or just stop?

Uh...you're not counting Supernatural, are you?

I hate reality TV shows. If they were physical beings, I would dismember them while they were alive. With a meat cleaver.

And they warp people. Some people will do anything for their fifteen fucking minutes of fame. It annoys the hell out of me.
