    This has a twofold effect:

    1. There is less financial incentive for quality programming than there was 10 years ago (at least on the major broadcast network level).

    2. The normally solid theory that broadcasters just give us what we want and we have to stop watching to make it go away is less valid with reality TV because fewer of us need to watch it to make it viable.
OUCH. I think you just became the Chief Operating Officer of Udog's network.

That's one hell of a double-whammy effect. Yech!

I'm glad I've tuned out for so long, there's so much better stuff to pay attention to. I've traded watching TV for staying in shape. To me, that's a good deal, to others maybe not so much. I just can't be bored, or sit still.

The tyranny of sitcoms was replaced by something far worse.

    Immediately.
These are the main reason why I stopped watching cable TV.

    (1) What is the appeal of these shows? Why do people watch them?
It's the same people who slow traffic down during rush hour while gawking at accident wreckage as well as many of the soap opera lovers.

    (2) WHEN WILL REALITY SHOWS DIE?
    When the rubberneckers do...............

    (3) What will be the downfall of reality TV?
Enough people not watching cable television to force cable companies to shut the service down. (good luck...)

I think the appeal could be about relating to the seemingly "regular people", people who are like everybody else around you and they're elevated to this "important" status. So, suddenly they're at the center of attention and the viewers who would like to experience something similar can live through them because it seems that some day this could happen to them as well.

    When humanity withers.

    (3) What will be the downfall of reality TV?
More and more people pushing the "Off" button.

I understand TV is supposed to be entertaining, but I'd rather copy a dictionary word for word writing with my feet than watch this crap.

    Discuss.
I hate them too. At work people are always like..did you watch this this this last night??

    No.

    *shrug*
I like to rock n' roll all night and *part* of every day. I usually have errands... I can only rock from like 1-3.

    Huh?

At this point...nothing? Maybe if there is a reality show heinous crime caught live, then I think there would be an FCC and moral crackdown, somewhat similar to what happened after the talk show slaying.

And honestly, reality TV is a great way to look at the intertype conflicts and even typing people! For instance, I'm guessing Flo on The Bad Girls Club is an EXFJ and Tabatha Coffey is an INTJ.
