I do have times when I allow my over-thinking to make me unhappy and a lot of the time I think reality/life/humanity sucks in a general way, but my partner and I have worked very hard at making a good life for ourselves and I am content -- sometimes I'm downright tearful with thankfulness, actually.

I believe that circumstances can impact a person's satisfaction with life a great deal, but ultimately you make (or don't make) your own happiness.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

yes, I'm quite happy with most of my life

a couple of aspects I'm not happy with, but in general, I'm quite happy

Let's put it this way. I'm happy so long as no one asks me why. Because when I'm forced to think of a reason, I'm unable to come up with one. And then the sadness sets in.

Wow. It actually seems that most people are happy.
Maybe I am in the pits of darkness and can't see the light, but I don't feel happy. Curiously, I thought that there weren't too many happy people in general....

don't feel bad, I'm generally described as being in a freakishly good mood... perhaps because I annoy people by being quite perky and pleasant when I wake up in the morning

So far it looks like there's no correlation between S/N and happiness/unhappiness.

everyone experiences happiness. I am happy, I am sad, I am angry, I am glad, etc.

How can happiness be the default emotion? Most of the time I'd say I'm content but when it comes down to it I'm quite neutral. I can't imagine being happy in general, more likely being indifferent with periods of happiness and other moods sprinkled in.
