I dislike cats for the same reason. I appreciate dogs because they are more into a pack. A dog can be every bit as intelligent as a cat. They have a loyalty and directness that I appreciate. Also, I'm a bit of a control freak - I have an undying need to be in charge. Being the pack animals they are, dogs seem to adhere to this heirarchy.

So you're looking for slaves, not companions. How cute

Neither heirarchy nor loyalty necessitate slavery.

I like most animals in general, including cats, but I absolutely adore dogs.

They are compassionate, nurturing and full of love, and they're silly to boot!

A world/life without dogs would be bleaker realm, indeed.

I guess cats, but only slightly more. Dogs really depend on the breed, though.

However, they are just a small part of my list that also includes anteaters, octopi, and millipedes among other things. I must have at least one of these things as a pet some day!

I don't know about temperament but I like both cats and dogs. My family has always had both. I don't currently have any pets but I think if I had, it would be a cat because they don't need as much attention as dogs. But anyway, animals and apartments don't really go together, so I'll just wait until I get my own house to take both and let them have a nice life.

I have had dogs. Dogs are too dependent and too goofy for me to keep as a pet. I enjoy playing with my neighbor's dogs, but I'm glad to come home to my cat. She's so relaxed and quietly loving, and she purrs. Dogs don't purr. And they slobber. And, worst of all, they bark.
