    hey you asked for dominance.

Only think I know about that involves a big deal of cruelty

I didn't ask for dominance. I wanted to just have a discussion on how/why people believe that TyepC hasn't fallen into major cliques and dominating members who like to control others.

Instead it just turned into a major fluff ball.

It's an interesting subject, a good number of more serious posts on this might come in tomorrow.

    Have some hope.

Sorry. Maybe you can start a new thread? Hopefully everyone has all the fluff out of their systems by now.

Edit: Or, yeah, just wait around like Ajblaise said.

The lovely spectacular place of great wonder that is TypologyCentral has those of the lower status wishing and hoping that one day they will be of the powerful influential inhabitants of the net village. They pant and pant trying to reach higher and higher letting people slowly but surely acknowledge them as one of their own. Once they feel they are rightly acknowledged they feel satisfied yet unsatisfied because they want more power and uniqueness and thus abstract forms of posts to a level equal to that of Victor's appear here and there scuttling around but then turning back to normal as they cannot keep up to their own levels of forced uniqueness.

Bibbity bip. Bibbity bop. A serious post would likely stop
Not heading to a poems pop. Bibbity bip. Bibbity bop.
The soldiers make their march to scream
Just living in, their likely dream
Of winning in, their wordy ream
It's pinning in, an ugly scheme
    Continuing, this lovely rhyme
    Is wasting, my precious....

Meh, I'm just going to post it now.

    Thumbs down Dominance and Deference

It's interesting that different cultures have different ways of expressing dominance and deference.

Of course I realise it is politically incorrect to even talk about dominance and deference, but in fact they subtly rule our daily lives.

In your culture for instance you express deference by talking and entertaining, and dominance by listening.

In other words, in your culture the child role is played by talking and entertaining and the parent role by listening.

In my culture it is exactly the other way round. The parent role is expressed by talking and entertaining and the child role is expressed by listening.

So you can see why we constantly misunderstand one another. When you think you are expressing appropriate deference, we see you as expressing dominance - so we call you, quite unfairly, "loud mouthed Yanks".

And of course when we are expressing dominance by talking and entertaining, you see us as expressing appropriate deference to you.

So we see you as loud and dominant, and you see us delightfully deferential.

No wonder you like us more than we like you.
