Default How do you start your work?

If you get something from work or school assigned to you,do you:

A.Do it first thing you get home, same day?
B.Have fun and then do it,same day?
C.Leave it for tomorrow, wake up early, and do it?

Which one is better for you?,which one gets more work done?

It depends on how much I'm into the work. If the work is inspiring to me, I'll do it immediately. Otherwise, I'll wait until the very last minute and use my stress to fuel my completion of the task.

i tend to do things right away, usually. i am a fire investigator, i get assigned to investigate fires without established deadlines - it is more a case of 'come to a conclusion as quickly as possible'. so i have to take a fair amount of initiative.

although, i do write my reports and paperwork from home -and i tend to put them off somewhat, and then sit down and quickly knock them out.

Sometimes B, sometimes C, sometimes D: not at all. At least at school it was like that.

A.Do it first thing you get home, same day?

    No way.

B.Have fun and then do it,same day?

This is what I usually do. Having fun and getting relaxed, throwing all the stressful thoughts out of my mind is the best way for me. Then I can clear my head and sort of tune myself for the work ahead.

C.Leave it for tomorrow, wake up early, and do it?

I don't really like to do things at the last minute, so I already know that this option is not going to work for me and I avoid getting myself into this kind of situation. I hate being pressured and I start to "rebel" against doing anything, so I really might end up with doing nothing.

Which one is better for you?,which one gets more work done?

    B. I get much better and more work done when I'm in a good mood and feel relaxed. I have to get into this "good rhythm" to get the work done. I have to feel good about the work so that I can get into it in depth and find something that captures my interest, gives me energy, makes me explore new things and look at the problem I have to deal with from many different angles to get the full picture.

But then there's also the problem that I might start procrastinating and putting off doing the work when it's not really something I want to do. Then I have to force myself to start and when I do get into that "good rhythm", my mind has to be fully engaged in the work, then I get things done the way I want them done.

Eh, please! None of the above...

    For school:
    D. If it had to be done, do it in the lesson/break just before the class it was due in. If it was optional learn about any part that interested me but not do the official assignment.

    For work:
    D. Generally start pretty much straight away cause it prolly would have been my idea, then extend the deadline cause I like pushing them out as far as I can to discourage people from giving me deadlines, otherwise if I get bored with it or distracted pass it to another person to complete so I can get engulfed in the latest project that has grabbed my attention

    I have mighty Peeee!

A.Do it first thing you get home, same day?

Sometimes I'll do this, it depends on a few factors. If I have tons of work , or if I'm excited about the work, I'll do this.

B.Have fun and then do it,same day?

This happens more frequently. I am more efficient when I'm relaxed, so I try to be in a good frame of mind before I start work. And sometimes I'll work straight through, but mostly I work some, play some, then work some more.

C.Leave it for tomorrow, wake up early, and do it?

No, I could never do that. It would hate that.

Which one is better for you?,which one gets more work done?

If time allows, then B gets the most work done. I like being able to mix work and play.

    Work - Straight away
School - Progressively do more and more as the deadline approaches, so at first I do nothing

Wait, work? Start? What is this: some sort of sick joke?

I plan what I will do when I learn about what I have to do. Then I execute it when it's convenient - or the latest I can possibly get myself to procrastinate. Honestly, the best predictor of whether I will do something thoroughly/get a lot done is whether I want to do it and whether or not I'm under stress (more stress = less productive). But it really helps to not feel overwhelmed in the first place, which is why I break up my tasks into manageable chunks. So, of the three options you provided, a combination of A and C works best for me.

A gets the most work done. I sometimes do B but A is better as I think I am better when I just pump the work put without letting up.
