    Default Earthquakes!

Here in California, we've been getting noticeable earthquakes every single day since 1/6. I was born and raised living literally on top of a fault and this is abnormal, even for me. I even got hit by an earthquake while I was in the middle of talking in Vent -- now that was fun.

I've heard that geologists are afraid these are all pre-shocks to a bigger earthquake. This includes the 6.5 (and the following 4.4 and 4.1) that happened in Eureka yesterday.

Anyone else in California who's getting shaken up? What are your thoughts about what is going on?

My Dad was on a business trip back in the mid eighties (84'?) and just happened to be in San Francisco when a major fucking earthquake of massive proportions hit the area.

As a family, we were scared shitless. I was 10 years old. We didn't hear from him until the next day. He said he was lucky enough to be outside, in an open area near his hotel, and that the buildings looked like they were part of a cheap set of a vintage Godzilla movie, that shit was just shaking even if for but a few moments.

I hope Mother Earth chills out, and that no one in Cali must endure another quake. Good luck to you, seriously.

I haven't felt any so far in January, but over the years I've felt them quite often, even when they're not big enough to be reported. I actually think it's kind of cool, but I'm sure that's only because I moved here AFTER the Northridge quake.

Yep, I've been shaken up. This may be California, but this degree of activity is not normal... this is only the second quake I have felt in 20 years living here, and it was definitely the strongest.

The 6.5 may be a pre-shock? Eureka is already shaken up enough as is. Maybe it is about time for a long vacation for all of us near the fault

Yep, sounds to me like the Yellowstone supervolcano is getting ready to erupt. Might wanna make a beeline for the east coast pronto.
