i'm pretty sure it's highly statistically unlikely that you'll have a traumatic birthing experience like that again.

*btw from what I've read, traumatic births are correlated (not a perfect correlation by any means, though) to strong post-partum depression, so please talk to people (even if you just get the normal Baby Blues) *

yeah i'm already pretty depressed, but that is mostly because i guess i expected my body weight to drop significantly after he was born, and i really only lost like 4 pounds. i still look like i'm about 6 months pregnant.

yeah, but think of how much he weighs.

Think of it this way: your baby only takes up x amount of space. How much does space does it take for his crib + carseat + stroller, etc.? Similarly, he took up a fraction of the space in your body, but there was tons of necessary "equipment" there for his nourishment and living environment.
It would be highly illogical for you to have lost a lot of weight.

    Very well said!

You may have carried some extra weight home in the form of fluid from the IV as well.

It hasn't even been a week! I think the saying is that it took 9 months to put it on and it will take 12 months to get it off. Anyway that sounds about right to me so give yourself a break! I gained tons of weight with our second and I gained the most with our third. It's also better to lose it gradually

oh honey you will be surprised what you can and you will do for that baby. And while the birth may have been difficult and scary it's nothing in the big picture it's only the beginning. As children we have this affect on our parents where they constantly worry and we can invoke fear into them at the drop of a hat.

The things I never knew as a child but now as a parent, wow...... it is the most amazing experience of my life..... more things will make sense, and he will forever stir up your world. May you enjoy every moment and remember just how important you are as well

pst remember you had an epidural it will take longer for the affects of that to wear off. No rush on anything, it takes 6 weeks for your uterus to shrink back to where it belongs....
