Default Help me! (with finding French resources)

    Hello everyone,

I am teaching French for a couple more months. I would like a lot of practical ways to expose kids to French. So far I have gotten some French/English grocery flyers and used them, I have had the kids fill out passport and social insurance number forms (in French and English), and we're looking at game rules in French and English and then trying playing them. I would like to find some things like take out menus etc in French. If I Google search, most resources are going to be in English. How do I reset things so that I can find them in French?

Also if you have any other great ideas, I'm sure open to them!

    Google Recherche avanc

("advanced search" link next to the search dialog box > set language to French)

That classroom video with the pineapple guy is probably outdated, huh?

You could ask RL french restaurants to email or fax you their menus.

When my sister did Explore (the gvmt sponsored immersion program) they celebrated every holiday and learned the terms and customs from them.

How old are these children you're going to teach?

Grades 1-8. Mostly I'm looking for resources that I can quickly access through the internet of practical real life stuff where kids will encounter French. I have a friend in Ottawa who is sending me some stuff, but I'd like to access what I can on my own.

If I can help you, just ask. If you want a specific picture of Paris or Parisian life, for instance...

Unfortunately, 99% of the menus you will find in France are written in French only... (strange, isn't it?)

Yeah really....I would've thought half of them were in Bengali at least.

Thanks so much! I will ruminate a little and get back to you shortly. I would like a menu of a restaurant that has some traditional French dishes (even if not bilingual). I looked on the McDonald's website to see if I could find some menus of what they serve in other French speaking countries, but I had no luck for anything that was print-offable. One thing that would be interesting is a subway schedule for Paris. Would there be anything like that online? I'll like to do something talking about directions as well as travel words and if it's something real and practical that would be better. Same thing with something like a train station schedule. I'm guessing there aren't like to be grocery store flyers for anywhere in France online. I know when I was last in France, they didn't have many big chain stores, but that was in the mid-nineties and I also wasn't in Paris. Has it changed, and if so, what are their names?
