Here is a list of qualifying scores. No, that one internet IQ test you took doesn't count.

I'll make the poll private so no one has to out themselves, but if you wish to make a post, go ahead.
Apparently I'm at Mensa level, says my mother, who got this information from the middle school (or maybe it was 5th grade) that gave me my IQ test. And apparently my IQ was tested at 140. Unfortunately, none of that info is really useful, save for the possibility that my intelligence level could give me an advantage in life. Mensa and my IQ just doesn't help much for job applications or progressing in school...

Are you sure? It seems to me people are not keen on employing too intelligent workforce.

Useful idiots tend to get the nod in lower level jobs/industries.

Care to explain the possible correlation between mensa membership and being an idiot?

I doubt I qualify and don't see a reason to join if I did. If it was free and you got really good discounts on stuff we'd actually use, I'd probably pressure my husband to join because I'm pretty sure he'd qualify.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

[QUOTE=Gamine;974670Additionally, it creates a community for those people that have always felt secluded or isolated because of the social conflicts created by a staggering disparity in intelligence. [/QUOTE]

Care to elaborate on this point? Sounds to me like otherwise intelligent people blaming others for their poor social skills....

Not a member, and unless those are strictly verbal IQ scores, I wouldn't qualify.

The only time I wanted to join MENSA was at a time I was in my most extreme depression and my brains didn't seem to function well. I suspected a huge drop in my IQ, and I wanted a boost in confidence - so I went to their test. I didn't get in.

My brains work fine now and my IQ is back, but I haven't felt the need to join there now. My friend showed the mensa forums and they didn't seem as interesting as INTJ forum or this forum, for example.
