Thumbs up 45 Min. College Presentation Tonight at 5:30 PM...

    ...and I am SOOOOOOO stoked!

I love speaking in front of groups, it's always been fun to me.
    It's like free adrenaline.
Sometimes it even arouses me...thank God for podiums.

Anyone else here like public speaking?

I've seen many threads of folks who don't like it, but never one of those who enjoy it.

Besides extroversion, what other traits are supportive of a person being cool with managing workgroups?

I enjoy speaking in front of large groups of people.

It is one of the skills to be required to be a politician.

It is hard to conquer your fear, and it takes alot of practice.

Do you make up stuff as you say or read from the script?

I used to hate public speaking and then someone told me that if you know your stuff and are interested it goes so much better. I haven't done public speaking lately, but I think I could pull it off if I had to, as long as I was prepared.

In my kid's school they start them doing oral reports in front of the class in 1st or 2nd grade. I really think that's awesome, might raise a generation of people not quite as scared of public speaking!

If I know wtf I'm talking about, I highly enjoy it. If it's just giving my opinions, or reporting something neutral, I am also confident. The material is what lends me confidence, the amount of people, setting, etc. doesn't really hinder me. I get a bit nervous, but I think this is just a general I-dont-wanna-fail-especially-not-infront-of-people thing. I get over it pretty quickly.

I did a presentation Monday. It wasn't so bad, but that's because I actually knew what I was talking about! PowerPoint & Keynote are my friends.

As far as being an orator (without Powerpoint/Keynote), it just takes a lot of confidence for me to stand up in front of people and talk- oh and my notes.

I don't mind speaking in public, but I prefer to play music for an audience. Does that count? I love performing.

In terms of managing a workgroup, I think other important skills are deplomacy and a sense or humor.

So what's the talk on, Halla?

I'm like this too - I like doing activities like playing music or sports in front of people, but not continuously speaking in front of a group.
