It does leave questions as to how to compose music. If you really can make fairly random sounds fit together...
Durrrr yeah, that's how the concept of musical keys works. It's also how improvisation works--you set up a structure for which notes are allowed and then make stuff up within that framework.
In composition, any and all random sounds within the same key will tend to fit together at least reasonably well, insofar as they won't sound overtly bad...but just being in the same key doesn't make good music on its own. It's knowing which pieces of the key to use in what situations that really makes a good artist!
