"How dreadful!" cried Lord Henry. "I can stand brute force, but brute reason is quite unbearable. There is something unfair about its use. It is hitting below the intellect." ~ Oscar Wilde - The picture of Dorian Gray
I am concerned with how others perceive me. I don't know why, I think it's just an instinct without any reasoning to back it up. (I do think it's helpful to know how others perceive you, so you can make adjustments to get along with people better, but I don't think that's the reason I feel that way. It's just a concern.)
The more important that person is, the more I care, naturally. I want to be likeable, I think that being popular and well liked is underrated, especially by a lot of people on this board. It is helpful in life to have connections and people who want you to succeed. The benefits of caring how people perceive me I think outweigh the pitfalls. I think it's good to be concerned as long as people don't become grossly insecure or huge people pleasers or overdo it.
