    Default Deus ex machina

I have a very old desk lamp. It's about, let me lie, around approximately 25 years old.

So, when I switch it on the music on my headphones dies. And when I switch it off the music sometimes starts to play again. But if it doesnt play again when I switch it off, it wont play again no more after then.

And now comes the kicker. The headphone is plugged into my computer. And the computer power plug is only in the same power plug like the lamp.

Ghosts ? Fairies ? The god in the machine ? Or just sensitive induction coils, part of the mainboards sound system, failsafe dieing when this old lamp power surges the whole ouput for a second when switched on ?

I say hope its a nakkid fairie !!!!

    Well, if it's a lamp, it's obviously a genie.

It's obviously something supernatural in nature. I hate arrogant bastards like you Entropie, who think they have an explanation for everything that happens in this world.

I say the lamp is possessed. There couldn't possibly be any other explanation, could there? :rolli:

Is thew compooter directly plugged into the wall outlet, or into a power strip? Because it sounds like you need one.

Do you live in an older building with a low amperage svc, say 125A?

Also: PC's have really noisy audio circuitry. If I use headphones with my work PC, I hear a buzzz every time I scroll.
