"How dreadful!" cried Lord Henry. "I can stand brute force, but brute reason is quite unbearable. There is something unfair about its use. It is hitting below the intellect." ~ Oscar Wilde - The picture of Dorian Gray
Four favourite types: ESTJ, ENTP, ENFP, INFP (yes, the INFP type has won my heart and is now building a little fortress in it. I'll try to keep a rein on my own ENTP type who wants to know just how much gravity it takes to tear it down)
Four least favourite types: ENFJ, INFJ, ESFJ, ENTJ
Those favourites and least favourites are *not* based on real persons, only on the type descriptions and my experience with creating characters and writing.
If I write about a convincing, fascinating character, it's probably an ESTJ. That's why I like the ESTJ type so much.
I have yet to create an ENFJ character who's not a flat, boring backdrop. I know it's possible. I know real, fascinating ENFJ persons. I just can't write them convincingly!
Same holds for the others in the list.
The INFP type was actually my least favourite before I created my dark, brooding, unpredictable INFP villain. He's such a gem...
Maybe the other types will climb on the ladder in the same way.
That merely implies that ENTP personality characteristics are more "masculine" (if we go by traditional societal definitions of "masculine" and "feminine"). I still don't see any reason to believe that female XXXXs are different from male XXXXs simply because of the difference in gender.
I'm fine with the whole society being more willing to accept traits in one gender over another though, so I guess that's why people felt the need to separate their preferred types based on gender.
That, and it was a system started in the OP.
That main reason why I like different types in different sexes is because I personally am all about same-sex friends. I do not like to have many opposite sex friends so to me, girls = friends/family and boys = romantic interests/family. That is the difference for me. I am dating an ENTP but I do not have any ENTP girly friends because I think they would probably get on my nerves and hurt my feelings too much. I like friends who are caring and sensitive while I like my S.O. honest and blunt.
