Default Who needs two doctors and three friends to tell them they need to take a vacation?

I just thanked one friend of mine who advised me to take a vacation, given his feeling I had worked too hard for too long.

Later I realized, he wasn't the only one..

-Two physicians thought my stress symptoms were work-related
-Friend psychologist advised me to take it easier, I shouldn't concentrate that much on money and work
-Two friends advised the very same thing quite seriously

Am I quick to take advice or what? I became super anxious and stressed out, yet willing to continue the war. Ahh, my first vacation over 2 weeks long in perhaps a year. (Not counting the times when I was sick.)

    Whee!

I'm not sure what this tells about anything.

Part of life is smelling the roses.

As an extroverted thinker you are going to use much of your energy and brainpower to pursue the various endeavors of your life.

It is too easy to get caught up in pursuit of money and success, and to forget to make the time to relax, travel, and take in life for the beautiful gift that it is.

We have each day but once. All work and no play makes for a dull life.

Go have some fun. The work will be waiting for you when you return.

I don't think I know anyone irl that takes two week vacations, certainly not more than one a year. Are you working, like, 80 hour weeks?
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

if it's only work, usually 40-60. If it's work & study combined, it amounts to about 80. THis is about 60-80% of my time during the year. Rest of the time, I do partial vacations (do only one thing at a time), which means just 25-40 hours of work. I have taken my "holidays" and "vacations" to mean something when I do less than 30 hours of work per week.

I did well before my burnout. I had hard time not performing to my standards. Hence, my holiday has been time when I've done less than 30 hours of work per week. I'm a screw-up and a workaholic. If I earned insane amounts per week, I would believe I wouldn't be workaholic anymore.

Sorry, I'm all crazy. I've dranked a lot this evening. I've read that work related stress often makes the person to use a lot of alcohol, not sleep well, etc.. that's my case at the moment.. I'm trying to get over it.

Europeans take about six weeks of vacation per year. So does my immediate supervisor, but it's because she's been with the company for like her entire life.

So, you mean that what constitutes as "burned out" in europe is just the daily routine in the US?
