The quote is from Pedro Calderón de la Barca a Spanish dramatist and poet's "Life is a Dream" (Spanish: La vida es sueño) is a philosophical allegory about the human situation and the mystery of life. The central argument is the conflict between free will and fate. "Life is a dream from which only death awakens us". I see death as less as a passing rather a metaphor for an awakening of higher consciousness and doing what is right because it is right and not because we will gain material advantage in this life...and then look in the miror or our fellow human's eyes and see it as the nobel choice...it reminds me acting out of love. Thx

What did you think when you read it. Like things which represent different thoughts/and feelings to others. One of my biggest beefs with my poetry professors is how they were seeking objective translations and how I felt poetry was more subjective to the reader.

Wonder what other think of these and other words are interpreted in their own lives/hearts?

no, thank you for sharing. your interpretation is very noble, may we all embrace our potential to actualize each other + ourselves. death is a song of awe.

for me, it falls into the category of quotes that center me whenever i start oscillating between doubt and frustration - sometimes (as we all do) i get sidetracked by petty anxieties or vain desire, and reading a passage or a watching a short film that echoes a personal goal brings me great peace + focus. as for the quote itself, i am on the journey of embodying (living) it's very ideal - a loving embrace of death as one of the fullest expressions of life.
