Cool tattoos: pure skin or inked canvas?

I used to want a tattoo but never did because I change my mind often and wouldnt want to regret it. Then I heard someone say that they saw each as part of a story or a map of their past. I have liked being one of the few without any but I also think having a few nice pieces would suit me and show my character more. People often assume I have some. Does it matter anyway as we are all skin and bone? They look good until you have wrinkly skin and they're faded...

Do you have any? Would you get some if not? Would you never regret it? Are you glad of yours? When and why did you get it?

Exactly. Have been for a while. I don't like trends, it loses some appeal.

I have three tattoos so far, an arm one (which I am having changed) a full back one and a wrist one.

I love my tattoos and I'm glad I have them, also I don't think tattoos look bad on wrinkly skin.

Once you are so wrinkly that a tattoo would look "bad" that will be the least of anyones concern.

To me it's just art, I love it.

I can't even commit to lunch. I can't see wanting the same thing on my body 10 years from now that I'd want today. I liked some really lame stuff 10 years ago.

Glad I didn't get one when I was younger, but always loved them and will likely get a few plus some random piercings soon. I'm of the body art canvas opinion
There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.

I like tats. Just not on me. I dislike things I can't get rid of. It is very unlikely that I will ever get a permanent one. Hmmm...I might try henna tattoos.

But I see tattoos as art and there are certainly some very fine and tasteful examples out there. I like when people put some serious thought into what that specific tattoo means to them and what story accompanies it and not merely a pretty pic to cover up some skin.

Oooh...I would actually like to have a tattoo under my foot - a barcode (unoriginal, I know, but it's something I like).

I kinda look like I should have tattoos, but I'd have trouble narrowing the possible options down.

Same. That's why I know if I ever got a tattoo it would be a good one.

    Ti tattoos: Well thought out.
    Ne tattoos: Hit or miss
Fe tattoos: Will regret in two weeks.

i have some tattoos in a few places. on my right upper arm, right shoulder, right shoulder-blade, and right pec. and one on my left calf.

2 of them were definitely big mistakes. but now they are reminders. like you said TickTock, they are a map of my past. so i like having them for that reason, and i feel like if i had them removed it would be disingenuous.

and one of my tattoos is of a kingfisher. oh, and that tattoo came long before my forum name, haha.

I don't have any tattoos. If I did I'd like to get a carp on the right side of my back, up the lat. But I have no plan to. There are a few places in Japan you can't go with tattoos.
