I think I like it because it connects my Ni with my Se in a meaningful way. I wonder if dominant-inferior connections always have that effect. I imagine an IxFP would get a kick out of being forced to feel a connection between Fi and Te.

The closest motivating sentence that can form coherently in my mind when I barely open my eyes at the freezing dark crack of dawn is -- actually a picture of the noble tortoise plodding majestically along with his peculiar gait while the lazy hare dozes peacefully next to a rock...only to be brutally mauled and eaten a second later by an equally enterprising fox. If only silly hare would have gotten his lazy ass up and kept on task like the tortoise.

Seriously, that and even the hint of the social stigma of being 30 and single and living in my parents basement PROPEL ME through the air, straight into my clothes, and like a whip out the door.

Actually I just realised that what motivates me quite often is remembering my old friend John who said to the little teenage me: "You're just an idle waster, you pick things up and put them down again, you'll never complete anything as long as you live!"

It makes me get up and prove him wrong.

Yeez, I don't know how many times I heard that from multiple sources (mostly embittered ISXjs).

What, that you're an idle waster, or that they want to prove someone who said they were, wrong?

I don't get bitter. But if I can't decide completely whether the person is right, and I suspect they have a point, then I have to try to prove to myself that I can do stuff right. I don't do it to get back at them - after all, I haven't seen John for over ten years! I do it for my own self respect

Correction: I was such a meat puppet.

It's not a quote, but an ENTJ friend of mine swears that the Dallas Theme Song will make him march straight up a mountain, down the other side, into the ocean and on to Europe. If that's not motivation (from a guy who is pathologically lazy when he's not working out or eating), I don't know what is. ha ha!
