I could live without it, but I do like to watch poker, news shows and non-fiction TV. The only series that I got hooked on since college was Stargate (Mmmmmm.....Carter). Stargate Atlantis was a take-or-leave proposition. I never saw Firefly while it was on TV, so I missed that, but can say that would have been a show of choice. In college, it was Miami Vice (I was a criminology major...what can I say?)
I like movies, so will use the TV for those.
We were given a large screen by a friend who upgraded HIS large screen. When that one pooped out, I was all for the "why don't we just cancel the cable TV and go without?"
Yeah, that went over well...like a fart in church, let me tell you.
So we got a new large screen. I admit it's nice, and makes watching the news babes in HD a real treat (except where they haven't learned that HD REALLY brings out what type of makeup they're wearing...), to say nothing of Blu-Ray movies.
So, I'd have to say that, more accurately, I could live without cable/satellite, but would keep the TV for movies. I don't play video games.
Is the intent of the question to see if people don't watch shows ON a TV, or whether they don't watch TV SHOWS, since there seems to be a plethora of folks here who "can live without TV because I watch all my shows online..."
