When I was a little boy my grandmother used to read the bible to me (she was very religious) and the story that stuck to me the most was the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. I particularly picked the third rider of the apocalypse:
"When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"
The reason I chose him was because unlike the other horsemen whom had to do more with death, evil and war this one had more to do with balance and fairness or lack there of. The rich get to stay fine and well while the whole rest of the word starves and suffers from famine. Of course that is open to your interpretation but that is mine. That is also why my avatar is black. That story always stuck to me and is one of the times when I can clearly still remember my grandmother.
