I didn't mean to turn off your own personal avatar, I meant to do this-

Go under User CP, then Edit options, and from there under " Thread Display Options " uncheck "display avatars".

Leave your personal one on for the normal forum goers.

When I see other people's avs, it helps put another piece in the puzzle of who that person may be. I mean, I can read words on the screen, but all of the other little tidbits help me to tie in all the information to create a whole person.

I was saying that more towards the person that just turned off her avatar.

That's what I do, but I'm going to see what it's like WITHOUT avatars.

It's not like this has to be a permanent thing, I added the bolded into the OP-

I challenge you to turn off Avatars on this forum for a small amount of time. See what it does for you and your perception of people.

I'd imagine it'd be like all those other message boards without avs. Sterile.

    BlackCat,

do you mean that you'd like it if the admins could turn off avatars for you? I thought there was a way to do that. I mean, if we could individually turn them off, that would kind of solve this for the people who intentionally would like it.
Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

Avatars can tell a great deal about a person. Turning them off makes everything boring. As the saying goes, "a picture says a thousand words" or something like that.
