    Default Handshakes

Over the years, I have had many men comment on the strength of my handshake. I don't believe I reciprocate with a particularly bone crushing or unbalanced strength of handshaking. I'm not even sure if what is said is a good or bad thing or just an observation. I am a musician and have fairly decent sized hands (although not man hands like on Seinfeld). I was always told that a firm handshake is a good thing as opposed to a limp one - seems more sincere or heartfelt and confident.

Is it so rare for women to return with a firm handshake? Is this a bad thing? Men, what do you think?

I like my women subservient, so yes it is a bad thing.

A woman giving a firm handshake? I'd find it annoying I think...

Nothing worse than a wimpy handshake from either gender.
I'm not looking for bone-crushers, just basic confidence.

I never understood the whole handshake thing, I could care less about the firmness of your grip.

I've heard men say that it's weird when a woman has a very firm handshake.
Although I've more often heard men say that it's horrible when they shake another man's hand and it is limp.

Personally the whole handshake thing is rather annoying. If I had my choice I would rather not touch some stranger's hand... the whole thing seems kind of silly to me. But then, I'm not very good at those formal social interactions.

Handshaking is bizarre, but most adults are shocked by mine's power. I try to increase the stregnth based on how much larger their hands are. My hands are relatively small, so I increase the power quite a bit.

I don't know if it's rare. I try to give anyone's hand a healthy, confident squeeze.

The worst handshakes of all are the limp ones from people who have cold hands. It makes me think of shaking the hand of a dead person. Blurgh!

But the best ones are by far ones from people who have warm hands and squeeze gently.

I guess it's because handshakes are a little like hugs... I like hugs that are firm and squeeze me close to the "hugger" gently...rather than a limp hug or a bone-crushing hug.

Gah. Well, I give a firm handshake to either sex. I don't like getting a limp handshake, especially from a man.
I like to rock n' roll all night and *part* of every day. I usually have errands... I can only rock from like 1-3.
