How is your pretentious mission going, huh?

I'm afraid you didn't receive the most important piece of advice, which is:
You have to PRETEND being someone/something you're not. So it's very easy.

For example: I don't like opera and know s**t about it. So I should talk about how Turandot is better than Carmen or whatever.
If somebody honestly loves opera and knows a lot about of its history, can tell why some operas, composers etc are better than others then he/she is not pretentious! So, don't go this way! You'll lose the challenge.

And I had to get it right, because...

    That's a very good advice.

Oh, that's very mean. There's a person on this forum with 'In An Aeroplane Over The Sea' album's cover as his/hers avatar!
(and if he/she honestly likes it, then she/he's not pretentious! )

    Anyway, good luck!
    Tell us how's it going.

All you need to be pretentious is to feel superior in something, anything. Then constantly think about what you think you are superior about. It's funny because a lot of people who think they aren't pretentious because they don't wear designer labels can be pretentious about being intelligent, strong, creative, attractive or even being an intuitive. I've seen plenty of people pretentious about their intuition on here.

    +100

I find it especially amusing when some proudly mention that their N is at a 100% then tack on a pseudo self-deprecating emoticon.

Excuse me if I'm not so quick to prostate myself at your feet.

Fraiser is a great show for pretentiousness and hilarity. The inner key to being pretentious is to be unwilling to accept the reality of who you are.

oh come on! it's funny! i think it's just as silly to take life so seriously that things like this would bother you so bad. i know people who are so anti establishment so anti celebrity that it's almost just as weird...it's just really not that big of a deal...imo.

and can be quite funny if you think about it.
