For the most part I feel pretty content with my life. I'm glad I'm working on finishing up my degrees and managing to work my way through it. I like that I've taken this time to really do what I wanted (like travel) and, unlike the vast majority of my friends, I am nowhere near married, and I am SO happy about that. One of the things that I am still working on is allowing myself to be more vulnerable, open, and spontaneous with others. I know I come off as up-tight and serious the majority of the time, and I don't want to stay that way. I like that I am introverted, but I just want to allow myself to "let loose" and show people my fun side more often.

I like the analogy of living inside a zoeotrope and there are windows constantly opening and closing around you if you just make the jump.

Living is amazing because even as you're dying your body regenerates itself. People shed habits and friends and dreams as times pushes them to change and grow, but some core desires remain. Dreams are existential traps but it's such a privelege to be able to chase after them.

Having said all that mumbo jumbo -- am I living the life I want? Uhh...HELL NO.

    Hahahaha.

You mean the life I want right now? Well I am working towards having a life that I want and I actually know what that means and what that will look like, the external trappings, what the requirements of that life are, the timeline, and the methods to achieve it. I think that in itself is something to be grateful for.

Right now I'm single and free, no kids, no legally bound ex, no obligations (yay!!!!) and while materially I am not successful AT ALL in reaching ANY of the freaking goals I vaguely had for myself as a teenager or in college (I'm not a feminist psychologist, I'm not a journalist, I'm not a lauded published writer, I'm not a politician nor working in elected government, I'm too fugly to be on-air talent, I'm not packing houses nightly) plus I haven't had nearly as many crazy wild adventures, harlequin romances, OR steamy nympho encounters as I should have at this point in my life.

BUT, I have tried and more importantly tried and failed spectacularly in some cases. And in the process grew a pair and up and away. And I'm quite proud of that. And thankful.

I think internally I am beyond closer to my goals and much closer to where I thought I would be.

To me the life I want is less about material success, a job, a city, or an address and more about how kick-ass I am as a person.

Because seriously, I wanna be hella kick-ass.

In a couple of weeks, I'll be twenty-six--my "late" twenties--and I'm lately afraid of not going to grad school, not getting married, not living a filled-up life...
I always felt like I was too early to worry about my future, now I feel as if I am slower with my figuring out than everyone around me.

I think that's fine, I got fed up with how slow things went and how inefficient, so I guess this is life's way of telling me: slow down there.

    Life is an adventure.

Yes and No. Most of it has been very unexpected, both very positively and negatively.

What's important is that I'm living the life I want to make the life I want.
