Default How Much Sleep Do You Need?

Some People Just Need Less Sleep - Yahoo! News

So how much sleep do you need to function at your best?

Poll coming...poll is public so that all us typology nuts can muse over the different types and how much sleep they need.

EDIT: Question for poll purposes is not how much do you get, but how much do you really need to function and feel your best?

    I need 11-12 hours.
I can sleep for up to 11-12 hours.

But I usually only get between 5 and 7 hours of sleep. Poor me.
Is it that by its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?

7-8 hours is the best, anything less makes me really, really cranky. Of course I can go with less but not for very prolonged periods. After a few days of less sleep, there's always a day needed to balance it out. I do feel that I need a definite structure with sleeping hours, going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day to function the best. If the structure gets broken, it's a mess.

I go to bed between 11-12 and wake between 6:30-7:30, so I average 7-1/2 hours.

I don't function well on less than 6-1/2 hours.

When I was in my 20s, it was more like 9 hours.

I consistently sleep less than 6 hours a night on weeknights, not that I wouldn't take more if I could get it. Weekends vary.

I'm good with 6 hrs. of sleep.
But I am a baby and usually sleep 8 or 9 for the placebo effect.

I roughly sleep about 7 hours a night, I feel much better on 9-12 hours, even though it feels like a waste of time.

I am burning jealous of anyone who can get by routinely and function well with 6 or less hours. It's just not fair! :steam:

I regularly make it on 6 or 7 hours but that is not my preference. Assuming I've had a normal day (i.e. nothing too strenuous) 8 hours is just about right. I could do okay with 9 hours too but more than that and I start to feel....too sluggish or drained or something. I don't know what I'm feeling when I get too much sleep but it's not a good feeling. If I've been unusually active I could probably sleep 12 hours though and feel fine. I've done that a few times and it's pretty cool.
