when you listen to a CD you have to listen to one artist, I think there's something to be said for not flitting around listening to this song or that song, you only buy music you really want because you're stuck with 11 tracks by the same artist.
I often feel the same way. With MP3 players you trade sound quality for convenience, and the musical experience becomes less intimate, and less of an investment. All of my favorite albums are one that I discovered during the pre-MP3 era, because buying a CD or record was an investment, so I was damn well going to listen to the whole thing over, and over again (which drove my college roommates insane).
