Ooo! Ooo! Or you could say: "If emotions are such a horrible thing, how come Data always wanted them so badly? Are you saying Data was...illogical?!?"

    Person: "You are being emotional."

Me: "No I'm not! I'm INTP! I don't have emotions! Waaah!"

    Person: "Point proven"

    Me: "I hate you!"

Person: "Go cry in a corner emo kid."

Actually, I'd think that would make alot of sense. Although until this thread I hadn't actually been called emotional, despite my previous attempts.

Yes, and I've seen it used on NTs and NFs lately. Most of my original post was said in jest (to express a genuine annoyance), but half the time I've seen it thrown around the other person wasn't actually being emotional.

I once told an ENTP to get a grip on their emotions.
    It's not a conspiracy against NF's.

It was a natural curiosity for things he had not been programmed to understand. One of the key characteristics of artificial intelligence is the ability and desire to learn. Therefore, his desire to understand emotions was a most logical result of his programming.

I would also like to point out Data was least functional while he had the emotion chip installed.

I just realized that my emotional exaggeration in the original post probably doomed this thread to Fluff material, and the core issue will likely not be discussed.

Ooo... the Star Trek retort. Set your wit to stun!

No, it's not. I've seen both NFs and NTs use that line on NTs. It doesn't make it any more valid of an argument unless it's backed up.

Oho, but he didn't desire to -understand- them...he wanted to -have- them.

No countering that last point though, touche'

Having them would be the simplest and perhaps most efficient way to understand them. Having was a means to an end; not an end in itself.

It isn't odd. He's clearly saying that emotion isn't something to be ashamed of.
