I usually encounter the latter two, although I am accustomed to hearing "Why are you so serious?" from people before they get to know me.

Most of the time the people asking are young (under 20 years old) extroverts who see me as some sort of oddball who needs to be fixed.

-Like the person: Nothing at all, just relaxing.
    -Don't like the person: Nothing.

    - Are you always this quiet?

-Like the person: Nope, just not that talkative at the moment.
    -Don't like the person: Yes.

    - Smile! (Okay. Not a question but I'm curious as to what types keep suggesting this questionable deed! ).

-Like the person: Haha. *smile a tiny bit*
-Don't like the person: No reaction or scowl.

On the flip side: I know an extrovert that is repeatedly approached by people wanting to score some speed. He talks and moves that fast.

I get the bolded sometimes, especially "What's wrong?". I usually get asked that when deep in thought about something totally inconsequential, so I am usually surprised that I apparently look upset. I just tell them, "nothing's wrong, I'm ok." Sometimes they won't believe me which I really hate.

I really, really hate the "smile" thing. I'll make the facial expressions I want, thank you very much.

    - Are you angry?
Uhh nope? why does everyone say that?

apparently people say that i look pissed or sad 80% of the time. don't know why though. Maybe its cause im too lost in my own world.

    - What's wrong?
    Nothing? Haha.

    - Are you always this quiet?
Sort of, unless i have something to say or i'm in a really good mood.

    - Smile!

Ironically I had an ISTJ friend that used to tell me "Smile" from time to time.

Yes, someone please tell the people around me that just because I'm not actively engaged with you does not mean there's something wrong with me. A lot of people are just annoying or boring so I keep quiet. Most of the time, I had a response in my head to something going around me, and then I thought of possible scenarios in response to my response, and decided it wasn't worth it. That's the ISTJ deliberation. We think heavily before speaking.

I get asked on a regular basis:

    Why are you so serious?
    Are you tired?
    Are you angry?
    Don't worry so much!
Or I just get the stares that come off as, "That guy is acting like he's too good for us."
