It seems like the general consensus is that when people say "Smile!", it's REALLY irritating. But are there any types who WOULD be okay with being told that? And which types would even SAY that?
Probably an EF. :/ I've had someone ask me, "Why don't you smile? You never smile." That is NOT something you want to be asking me. What I really wanted to say to them was, "Because I don't feel like smiling. Mind your own damn business! <insert some insulting sentence here>" Instead, as calmly as I could, I responded, "I'm just tired."
those questions don't bother me too much, i just answer them literally. people do often think i am upset when i am not, though. if the person is really convinced i am upset even after i tell them i am not, that bothers me.
it seems like we ISTPs get that somewhat, people who want to 'fix' us, because they 'know' we are upset and just lying to ourselves.
Yes to this! I don't know about others but in almost every case of these people asking these questions; they don't believe the answers. I'd say 90% don't accept the answer at face value.
I'm wondering since everyone doesn't seem to like the "smile" comment...do you find that the person asking you to smile is of the opposite sex? Maybe they want to break the ice and don't know a better way of doing it?
I'm not asked this question often- probably because I'm not an Introvert.
However, if someone had the audacity and/or the nerve to ask me that-
I'd take out my cell phone- call a friend and be like, "Hey, what's up. There are so many dumb people here. In fact, I'm looking at one right now.. ugh!"
