You're damn right about people being too sensitive. But I can't think of a situation where calling someone ugly isn't personal, especially since ugly is such a negative word. Actually, she most likely wouldn't have minded to be called pretty. So maybe it's the negative aspect, rather than the judging aspect, which is the problem.

I don't find it reason enough, personally. If someone can say A, that someone should also be able to say B. It is up to the recipient to deal with it. Wether she takes it positively or negatively, is up to them.

I agree that there is no justification on saying someone is ugly. Especially someone whoms beauty you have no business in.

EDIT: it seems like no one has a problem with my generalizations when they are positive. Just sayin'.
It's just that I cringed as much as you did when I saw the comment you addressed. The fact you attributed it to Fi and generalised was just lazy thinking, or else a reaction as part of an ongoing agenda. Neither of which is very useful.

I like how we have managed to write 6 pages worth of stuff about 5-6 sentences King T said, and he hasn't responded just yet. What he said was definitely inappropriate, even for a direct person (I'm direct, as well). But yeah, people are a little too sensitive sometimes... although if I were his friends I wouldn't want someone saying crap like that to me or my spouse all the time. I'd advice showing some serious change if you want their friendship back, King T.

Really, in what situation would it be ok to call someone ugly? Obviously you think she has the problem with being "ugly" and deserves to have people say it to her, otherwise you wouldn't have made the feet joke. Why do you even want to mend the relationship?
