    Default Italian self-promotion

Hey, the government has just launched the official website, and since I think Italy is a wonderful country, especially as a tourist, I can't help to promote (perhaps the english version is not flawless, but not that bad either):

Italian Tourism official website - Italia.it

I advise to click on "map", there you can have a street-view of the most beautiful places. Needless to say, I haven't visited them all myself, and now I'm drooling over it

    Italia.it

my advice for the best regions: veneto, liguria, toscana, basilicata

Italy is a wonderful country. Great food, beautiful friendly people.

    But they drive like MANIACS!

Yeah, that depends a lot on where you go. I can't drive anywhere below Rome, they are all over the place, I'd have an accident in one minute. OTOH, I haven't noticed any difference between the way we drive in my city, and other northern european countries.

In my portico I have a bust of Garibaldi and a bas-relief of Caesar. So it is not so much that I want to be Italian, I demand to be Italian!

On Sundays I walk down to the Italian Cultural Centre. I sip coffee, I admire the art and flirt with the adorable Italian girls.

And for an hour and a half, once a week, I am Italian!

I plan on having a nice palazzo in Umbria one day. Wine and olive country.

More accolades for the Italians - I live in the Little Italy neighbourhood of my (Canadian) city and I've never been in a more kid-friendly, neighbourly place. People can actually let their young children out alone because everybody knows all the old grandpas and grandmas are keeping an eye on them from their porches.

Also, Italians will turn even the smallest patch of earth into a flower garden.
