    Why would you need to know what a rectum is, unless you worked in medicine? I can't think of anyone who uses a rectal thermometer on humans anymore in the US- tympanic thermometers are much more common if a more accurate measurement than oral is needed.

    Besides, this all completely misses the point of the joke - the word play.
