I avoided watching that. Read the synopsis and cried internally for what it was vs. what it could have been.
I read a theory, somewhere online, that it would end with Dexter waking up on the ground in the shipping container -- Deb had chosen to shoot him instead of LaGuerta, and the last two seasons had been a happy dream. He looks up at Deb, thanks her for ending the cycle of violence/murder, and dies -- ending things exactly where they had begun, in that same shipping container, in a pool of blood.
That would have been a beautiful ending. Too bad it didn't happen.
