Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Rick Astley started the rumor himself. Good promotion strategy.

We should stop buying his records for resorting to such a cheap ploy!

Good question. I think it all comes down to a shock value - basically sometimes people like events and news that shake up society, whether it's good or bad. I know I'm like that, although I mean no specific harm to anyone. People like news that gives them something to talk about and is a distraction of some of their boring/difficult lives.

Still, it's a rather short lived shock value. But I suppose that is all there is to it.

Has noone been on Youtube lately and been rickrolled. Its bloody everywhere and is so damn annoying.

Basically you go to watch a clip and then you are taken somewhere where you hear his song 'never going to give you up' with his video. :steam:

LOL it could be that you watched a video of his so it's in your cookies, then everytime you jump into certain sites, things you have clicked on are displayed to get you to spend more time on their site. *in a hushed tone, they see your click throughs and record your every move* Muahahah

About the latest fake deaths, yes, it is a promotional way to get some limelight. Any limelight is better than no limelight. Now I want lemonade..

It's sloppy, it's poorly planned, and it's been done before. SP pranksters at their worst?

I can't exactly say that I love the whole "Rickroll" thing. But I do appreciate the irony of not being able to close the browser window to a song "Never Gonna Give You Up..."
