I've been birds, animals, mythological creatures and fictional characters in my dreams.

But never have I dreamt I was female. I have however dreamt to be very feminin quite often.

i have had quite a few dreams where i was male, and yes, it does feel completely normal. well, apart from one occasion where i dreamt i woke up in a man's body and proceeded to have a phone conversation with my female self o.o

I always put it down to (on reflection) my sense of gender dislocation.

The errotic dreams are rather fun.

This doesn't happen frequently for me, but it has happened.

Yes, but for me it usually goes in the opposite order... starting off as male and ending up female. The rest of the time I'm just female for the whole dream.

Then again, in my case, there's a pretty good excuse for that.

I was thinking that this might have something to do with your anima or some psychological thing, but all I can gather is the obvious. It's been dreamed by people before, but I wonder if it happens more in male Fs/female Ts. So far I think the case has been proved. I've never dreamed that I was the opposite sex, but I've considered it, I would have killer lashes and hayer

I don't remember many of my dreams at all, but I've never really had cross-identifying dreams... it's always been in the gender I was.

Dreams seem to me to be a way to indirectly unpack emotions and thoughts, though -- it's like they cannibalize concrete events and details in the conscious memory and use those pieces to exporess unconscious feelings and ideas.

The residual self-image from the Matrix also seems to have some value; how we cast ourselves might give indications of how we view ourselves, or at least the avatar/identifying image we carry around in our heads of ourselves.

I never exist in my own dreams, so I'm always fascinated by the concept. But changing genders doesn't sound that odd. I wouldn't worry about it meaning anything much deeper than sometimes identifying characteristics of yourself with the opposite sex.

It happens to me, too! Actually, I'm very rarely just myself in dreams. I'm some other character that my mind created. Most of my dreams literally have plots and characters and everything, but I forget the details when I wake up (which is really depressing).

The gender reversal might also have to do with my past frustration of being a girl. I mean, I'm attracted to guys, but when I was little I felt like guys had more fun and were more free to be themselves than girls. I was a tom boy, so people were always telling me that I should act or dress more like a girl, that I should do this or not do that.

Now, I'm completely happy and comfortable with being a woman, and I don't change genders in dreams as often.
