Maturity is the opposite of ego-centricity (by that I mean only having an awareness/appreciation of self). Babies by nature can only be aware of their own self and early developmental stages allow for bringing into comprehension the existence of others. People who get stuck in that process forever are left to only be aware of their own needs and feelings. Being able to respect diversity and perspectives outside the comfort zone of self/ego is a sign of maturity.

Maturity has a lot to do with the interweaving of reason and empathy.

A willingness, even desire, to take responsibility for their own thoughts, emotions and actions. Never blaming others for what happens in their life.

Differs from type to type. But for an INTP.

    Knowledge, experience, stability.

You all have different ideas of maturity.

They may be similar, but they are all compounds of other desirable attributes.

Maturity must be considered on an individual basis.
No collection of attributes will be applicable universally as a gauge of maturity due to imperfect knowledge of the potential attributes of individuals.

It's interesting to see how closely your ideals of maturity relate to the ideals you simply enjoy most. Compassion and understanding for INFPs, self discipline and awareness for INFJs, knowledge and stability for INTPs...

I could give my personal and instinctual gauge of maturity if that's what you're looking for, it's self knowledge. I could give an argument for why this is the most practical and efficient gauge, but I don't think it'll help any of you find those people you want to surround yourselves with any more than your personal systems do.

I have to think that self-awareness/acceptance is a large part of maturity.

Maturity is the ability to realize that you are, at heart, immature. The people who accuse others of being immature usually have a stick up their ass; and that's immature.

Maturity is taking a repeated blow from my ego cannon - aka restraint. Maturity going above and beyond is moving a would be attacker off course and reasoning with them.

I'm calling you out on BS. Either they are or they aren't, yet they usually are and it's an absolute. This looks incredibly stupid - especially when you are looking only for what a person is doing wrong.
