According to this, engineering majors are linked with the ESTJ type.

MBTI and Major Choice People tend to be attracted to and are most satisfied with careers that provide

That would match up with the article where it says engineering professors are more right-wing and religious than other academics.

So if we take conservative and religious ESTJ engineering majors, and put them in the Middle East where religious influenced terrorism occurs at a higher rate, it makes sense they they would join violent Islamic groups at a higher rate.

I was thinking xSTJ myself when I read the article, not that I am saying stj's are all terrorists just waiting to be recruited lol

Yeah I figure an xSTJ will do anything under enough peer pressure. Good thing there's xNxPs like us around to think for ourselves.

That could be part of the reason I feel it is his profession. Actually my son might be more feeling than thinking, but I couldn't be sure since he is 10 years old.

A little terrorist in the making.. hahaha Actually it's his 3 and a half yr old sister the world should be worried from.

Sorry for jumping off of original OP. I'll disappear now. lol

Part of the problem with this reasoning is that probabilistic double-link can lead to insignificant total results. If 60 percent of the engineers are right-wing, and 0.001 of them are terrorists, it's very difficult to make any inference about the specific individuals in the population, since the likelihood that an engineer is a terrorist given that he's right wing will not be significantly different from the likelihood that an engineer is a terrorist given that he's left wing (in both cases, it's very unlikely that they are or will be terrorists).
