Naivety and ignorance is a tricky skirmish, however.

Edit: However, I believe there are FAQ which provide rules for contributing on this forum and I would guess that racisim is against the rules. I'm not saying the guy's racist, but that the statement may have been inadvertantly racist.
Not racist, but discriminatory on the grounds of social class, yes.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make when you talk about ignorance but I'll presume that you're making an ad hominim attack.

It clearly discriminates by race by virtue of the fact that race is mentioned.

I don't know if you're familiar with the term "white trash" or not, as you live in Europe (truly, I don't know if that phrase is ever used over there). It's not meant to describe caucasian race as a whole but is a slur aimed at lower class, disadvantaged individuals. "Trailer trash" is a like term.

I don't listen to Eminem much, but I do appreciate his work.

I'm going to have to check out this album now.

White is a race, white trash is a social class within that race. :P

Yes I am familiar with the term and I know what it refers to.

If I refer to an individual as being "a dumb black ass", I'm not saying that the whole of the black race is dumb, but that the person in question is. However, I still consider the phrase to be racist.

The definition of racist is discrimination based on race. Because he is not referred to as trailer trash, trash or ill-educated but by being white it is a racist statment.
