It's just that your whole argument about imperfection is a bit clich.
The word perfection is the use of an absolute while talking about relative objects.
It simply doesn't apply, no more than 'imperfection'.

We're simply in an "aperfect" world. Your whole argument is bs.

I prefered to deliver it with flashy octopuses. More entertaining.

That's why I said perfection is a lie, though maybe you missed that.

To have imperfection, you need to have perfection. Just as lie implies the existence of truth.
But hey, you could have missed it. Oh... No wait, it just means you don't know what you're talking about

I find it disconcerting how much emphasis is placed on women's appearances, good or bad. It seems that no matter what a woman does, her looks become the headline topic. It's no surprise that so many turn to surgery.

You need only the concept of perfection. We can have the presence of imperfection without the presence of perfection.

I have an anecdote that comes to mind whenever I see women getting plastic surgery because of being the center of criticism.

When I was 18, I had an appointment with an orthodontist who also happened to do at least some types of plastic surgery. Before pulling my bicuspids, he took the time to measure my chin and nose and inform me that if I had surgery he could take care of that "witchy chin" and make my facial proportions perfect. He explained that they would dislocate the jaw, saw off the back few millimeters of it, insert a screw to reattach it, which would pull my chin back and make me lovely. I smiled and said I would think about it since he was about to pull my teeth. :steam:

I can only imagine the disgusting kinds of pressure that leads to these fiascos. Even though I was 18 and plenty insecure about my looks, I saw right through him and was sickened on many levels. I was seriously regretting the fact that my spells don't seem to have much effect.

Less philosophy, more examples and pics, people! Start a "Perfection: Desirable or Not?" thread or sumthin'.

toonia, that is absolutely horrible, and I bet it happens all the time. Plastic surgeons (much less orthodontists) don't need to be in the business of making people insecure about their looks where they weren't before.

Debra Messing should also never get a boob job.
