I'd just like to say, it's great how nobody has resorted to swearing. Keep up the good work.

Obviously not. Your statements were extremely polarizing. We are all citizens of this world. Let the America bashing go please and just realize that a few borders and some water are things that only physically separate us. This attitude is what keeps us truly distant. A thread about cursing does not have to drift into whose country is better.

You will respond with a bon mot about our government, and I will still respond that I don't care - you and I and all of us here can be friends regardless of our governments. At least for tonight. Please.

My dear fellow, you can determine whether I am real by typing "shortus" into Skype and talking to me directly.

Not so long ago it took three to six months for a letter to pass between us, but today you can speak to me instantly.

That's right your peeps were still filling up the gaols in Merry Olde. I guess they had to wait that twelve years. My bad.

Either way, you don't know diddly about Americans or their thinking, and you know fuck all about swearing as well.

    OK.

But why not type "shortus" into Skype and talk to me directly?

We can talk about falling through space or even talk about poetry.

I mean I have jumped out of an aeroplane with you so perhaps you can jump into a poem with me.

I typically swear sparingly when I'm around people, so that when I actually do swear, others will know that I'm angry.

    Oh, bullshit.

I know it's highly unladylike but I do it anyway. My mother swore occasionally; my father, never. So I don't know where I got it.

Besides "bullshit," probably "goddammit" is my favorite. The latter is especially cathartic because of all the consonants.
