So I left my car today for probably 20 seconds with the driver's side door unlocked, wallet under the passenger's seat, concealed by a small amount of clothing. That's only enough time to jog seven parking spaces there (it was raining), drop a DVD in a return box, and jog seven parking spaces back, and you would think my wallet would still be in the car when I returned!
I get scatterbrained and lose things sometimes, but of this much I was sure! I've just looked through my messy car for 45 minutes. (The mess-factor is only such that I could conduct 4-5 complete searches, but that's still pretty bad.)
I come home to cancel the MasterCard -- the only one in the bunch -- and my Dad starts yelling at me as though he doesn't fall asleep every afternoon with both doors unlocked. He conveniently has no memory of this.
Anyway, MasterCard put a hold on my card number, is mailing me another one, but they want me to file a police report! How does this serve MasterCard, the police, or me? I'm not about to do it. I'm sorry, but even a thief is probably more likely to phone the number on my driver's license than the police.
I wish them a happy $100 spending spree though.
