    Default An Exercise: Advocatus Diaboli

Let's choose accepted fundamental social conventions and argue against them. Any ideas?

'Saved Seats' in classrooms. I mean, trying to force a social convention for one-person is completely selfish and domineering.

It's a general first-come deal in any random seating arrangement.

So, you're saying assigned seats is the convention to argue against? Just making sure.

    Okay, here goes:

Mandatory charitable donations are destructive to the very CONCEPT of charity. In this sense, they should be repudiated if we value charity at all.

If we define charity as benevolence or generosity toward others or toward humanity, compelling charitable giving poisons one against charity as a virtue worthy of applying one's self to. We can only encourage virtue through example. Charitable acts not done with a spirit of genuine charity have no value and could lead conversely to a widespread avoidance of charity.

By definition, generosity cannot be compelled. Otherwise, it ceases to be generosity.

    Here goes:

High heels are the embodiment of modern society's demand to render women into purely sexual objects. High heels are display pieces. Crucifixes for the very idea of Woman. Because feminine influence must be neutered and controlled to maintain our artificial, inhuman society.

Elevated painfully on high wooden heels we force them to prance about even sometimes resulting in bleeding or injury and back pain. It should be no surprise that high heels, in addition to being uncomfortable, force one to assume a position reminiscent of sexual offering with the posterior forced out unnaturally.

High heels are a symbol of the pain and arbitrary authority imposed by sexual inequality. They exemplify the arbitrary authority of sexual inequality because they serve no purpose other than the dictates of male desire and dominance. But, it is not enough to be arbitrary, they must also punish through discomfort.

My brain is too tired and not able to formulate arguments now, but I will jump in on writing arguments in the morning...
