It sells alright, at least where I work.

With so many comics today geared towards adults, it's one of the few that kids can read (consistently, since even certain titles switch ratings every issue it seems). There aren't all that many just-for-kids books these days.

At first I disliked Veronica because she was rich, popular, and somewhat shallow, being obsessed with money and clothing. Eventually, though, I began to notice that she was also somewhat sophisticated, perceptive, devious, conflicted, and clever in a way that I respected. I also ended up realizing some of Betty's negative traits... mainly a lack of vision, annoyingly down-to-earth/uncomplicated feelings, and a generally mindless sense of loyalty and persistence.

So if you look under the surface, Veronica isn't as disgusting as she seems, and Betty isn't as good as she seems. They actually balance out, one of them isn't really a better or worse person overall than the other (don't know if that made any sense).

I still keep what remains of my childhood collection in a plastic bin, and read through them once every three years or so for the nostalgia factor. I was so sheltered and clueless as a kid, I didn't even realize for the first few years that most books primarily contained comics from previous decades-I just assumed they had multiple writers and artists with widely-ranging perceptions of the characters.

I've always loved Veronica and thought she could do better than Archie.

    ^ Ya absolutely.

And of course he is going to choose Veronica; she always had more of a wow factor. Men want women who make them weak in the knees ... and Archie was always too "nice" to want a "nice", girl next door girl - opposites attract!

Now, whether she says yes or not, that's another story ... no doubt!

Ridiculous. Betty was the obvious choice. Loyal, considerate, loving, etc, while Veronica is a manipulative, snobby, egotistical, brat. But eh... it's just a story. And hey, maybe Jughead will propose to Betty instead.
