So I'm supposed to enjoy being freaked out and put at risk?

Well, hate is actually a pretty cold feeling that doesn't cost a lot of energy after the initial burst of intensity. The only thing it really does is isolate me... which doesn't seem so bad to me on the surface, honestly.

Well... yes. Don't take things seriously, and everything starts to become enjoyable.

Yes. It will help you get quicker on your feet to assess, and react, to real danger. Otherwise, with everything being a possible danger, it will all be a great big fumble.

Well, hate is actually a pretty cold feeling that doesn't cost a lot of energy after the initial burst of intensity. The only thing it really does is isolate me... which doesn't seem so bad to me on the surface, honestly.
Hate is additive, multiplicative, it corners, it isolates, it kills off possibilities. And, then all you're left with is no one else to hate, just yourself. And, then, nowhere else to turn, and because you are not used to any other form, you will start to turn that hate on yourself.

Surface is not what matters. Surface is what others see. They are secondary to you. When you get thoughts of what parts about you must be so bad, so horrible, that no one seems to be able to see the *goodness*, to love....then, it shall start to matter (if it hasn't already). That doubt, that paranoia, that loathing, will inevitably turn inwards. And, that's one thing that will refuse to stay on the surface, but become bone deep. Just you and yourself...on repeat. You gotta be able to answer to that with a peace of mind (without weighing down), imo.

They'd have zoned out in following your thought by the time you got to the bolded.
