I wrote a short story of sorts from personal experience a while ago that I'll share, so count me in.

If I have time to do it, I will. Thanks for the generous offer and for the interesting challenge.

    Also, as for judging.

    How about

    1-10 based on storyline
    1-10 based on structure
    1-10 based on spelling/grammar
    = total score

    Something like that.
This could be good, instead of ranking them against each other, so if there are too many stories one doesn't have to read all of them.

However, there may be a problem with some people being more lenient than others... *eyes Fs suspiciously*

Suffering and betrayal? You call those themes? *grumbles* I'll see what I can do.

I am also wondering... would it be possible to put the story contest under a lock, just in case any of us writers want to publish the short story elsewhere later?

I think we should just write. A short story contest with categories based on word count, maybe? I'd be willing to do it, I just don't know about receiving a prize and stuff, some of us don't have means to receive it. -me- But I'd enter for the sake of entering and stuff. Sounds fun.

Would it be possible to assign a random reading order for people? That way every story ought to get similar number of reads rather than just the ones at the top of the thread getting read and the ones way at the bottom getting neglected?

As long as the same group of people give ratings for all the stories... absolute scores doesn't matter. Only how the stories score relative to one another does.

    Put down a "possibly Mort".
Why do we always come here?

    I guess we'll never know.

I'm thinking about putting a cap on the number of participants to maybe like 10... I don't want to do it, but it seems the only way to keep the amount of material down, as not to intimidate everyone.

Now that creates the problem of which people get to participate... God damn it, I didn't see this getting so complicated. lol

Beat, just make an early cut-off date. These people seem ambitious now - but only 25% will do it!
