Thanks, I'm okay really. It was a stupid accident involving a really sharp knife and my apparent disability of thinking things through, especially when handling potentially harmful objects.
I was prying open a shower drain, at one point I unwillingly forced the knife shut but left my finger before the blade. Extremely stupid on so many levels, I know.

I'm good though. Worse things happen in the world.

Oh god, that's horrible. I'm sorry. I'm not gonna make you feel worse about it by pointing out exactly why it's horrible. Instead, I'm going to give you a positive missing appendage story:

I have friend who is missing 2 fingers on one hand. Every time someone asks him what happened, he tells them a different story. Each time, the story is long and dramatic and makes you feel something. These stories are so good and intriguing that he is always surrounded by these crazy beautiful women. It's directly related to the mystery of this mad man in a fedora with 2 missing fingers and this powerful story telling ability. I told him that it's insane that after so many years, I still don't know this basic thing about him - how the hell did he lose his fingers?!?! He told me that I, in fact, do know the story. One of those crazy stories is the true one, but no one knows which one. He's so ace. Such a damn tease.

What a beautiful story. Thank you. Not sure if I'd have the persistence and courage to go through with something quite like that, but I'll surely give it some thought.

My best friend is also missing one finger, hasn't held him back a bit.
