    Default Confused arms anyone?

Does anybody else find their arms awkward when they are out and about? ie "are my hands supposed to swing this way or that, should I tuck them in my pockets, do they look odd swinging in this particular way, or can everyone tell I have no idea what a normal arm swing should look like"?

I'm sure some of the women here have felt something similar when they have left their handbag at home, and a feeling of nakedness ensues. Well it's the feeling of nakedness + 1.

Or any mums who found their arms at a loss when they stopped pushing the pram because the kids were finally walking.

I am always struck by arm confusion when I go out, it's really annoying to spend a few minutes sending the wrong signals to my arms.

Sometimes I just pretend I have my purse anyway.
Most awkward thing I did that I grew out of is that my arms wouldn't swing.
My mom said don't do that because people will think something's wrong with me.

Heh. One of my friends apparently found out in college that he walked funny because he didn't swing his arms.

I do worry about how I walk, I've seen too many people who walk funny and don't know it. Only time I feel that way about my arms is during cuddling. Always seems like there is an extra arm.

I feel like this, but I just try to put them in my pockets. They feel silly when they're just...hanging and swinging around.

Yes, I've always said this, and I still identify with it.

I don't think I walk funny all the the time. But sometimes I feel like I might be a little to.. vigarous with my arms swinging.

But when I try and stop swinging my arms, THAT feels really awkward.

"It probably looks like I'm going to someone's place to kill them", I think, so I start swinging my arms again or stick my hands in my pockets.

:yim_rolling_on_the_ that's what my mom would say. "stop that! You look like killer stalker."

another thing I do is fold my arms. I completely okay with doing this, but once
again my mother says I look like I don't want to be bothered.

I don't know with to do with my arms.

In my case, folding my arms usually IS the signal, 'back off'. Unless I'm cold or sleepy.

I don't like how different arm positions, and any body positions, have all these supposed signals that they are suppose to be sending. It's the worst when people attach a specific emotion to whatever body movement you do.
