Your INFJ probably just observed your patterns based on what you had "felt" like when you had talked about certain topics, then winged it and tried to freak you out, or they were just confirming their suspicion.

I believe that it's possible for people to be telepathic.

Sorry to disagree, but I have ESP. I can influence the roll of dice in board games, such as making the dice roll the same number many times in a row. That freaks my husband out, and he yells at me to "Stop that!".
I also occasionally get a feeling I'm going to run into a particular person that day, and then see them someplace when I'm out running errands. I also think my intuitive, gut feelings about things tend to have an extra-sensory element to them that go beyond just intuition. I'm a good-hearted person, so I only use this ability for good.

If they were telepathic, why would they need to then ask you what you said?

Unless, they were actually telepathic and read your thoughts, but since they were in Ti they didn't understand them so they're asking for clarification.

I have some telepathy with some people. For example, a woman I knew some years ago in a town I have moved away from came to visit me at my new place. She started telling me about the work Halloween party and who came as what, and she stopped at one because she couldn't think of the name of the character. She said, "And Sherry was ... um ..." and the picture popped into my head and I said "Oh, Elvira" and she went a little pale in the face but then picked up with the rest of the story. Now, she was transmitting a picture in her mind, and I picked up the picture and knew the title of it, that's all that happened.

Similar things have happened to me throughout my life.

I can't do that with everyone, just certain friends are somewhat transparent to me and vice versa.

Nah they are just lucky guessers.
