    Default Which religion?

If you were put in a situation by God, and forced to choose a specific religion to live the rest of your life as a devout member of (and if God reassured you there were no incorrect choices) - what religion/denomination of it would you pick and why?

I would pick Catholicism, specifically the Italian flavour of it, because I love and am fascinated by all of the rituals and art. My second choice would be Judaism for the rituals, too.

The Quakers might get a look in because I knew someone who was raised Quaker once and it sounded like fun.

PS. Answers can be shallow, like mine, or deep.

I'd slap God and choose Satanism. If God would put me through that? He's gonna get the full blow!

But on a more serious note. If I somehow had to choose any religion to follow, without being pushed into it in ways that would bias me differently then my current view.

    ... Mmh.

Well, I like Buddhism, but over the years they screwed up that religion.

The main problem however remains that I could never devote myself to any religious belief.

Buddhism doesn't seem to be very demanding from what I know. Yeah, probably Buddhism.

Based on the assumption that God actually exists? I couldn't be forced. So, I suppose I'd take whatever option was left to me aside from choosing a religion.

On the other hand, I personally like Reform Judaism quite a bit. It's existentialist and agnostic, which I can get down with.

Ooh, I'd be a Catholic, too. Actually, I'm becoming one anyway, for technicality's sake, so that's cheating.

But if I picked another one I'd be a gnostic - super interesting.

One that does not have very stringent requirements on organized participation.

Religion is best if it's between the believer and their God, IMHO.

I do all I can to help my fellow man, but don't think that God loves me any more or less if I show up on Sunday to sing songs and throw a few bucks in the basket.

I'll stay where I am on my spiritual path. I have a problem with authority

It's interesting. I was anti religion after I left my old religion at 20. The thing is, now I'm becoming a Catholic for my someday-to-be mother-n-law. To me, religion is mere custom. I just don't believe in it. My real spirituality is personal and something far different. The religion I become for tradition's sake doesn't matter at all in my view, because that's all it is to me: tradition. Plus, I don't have to do much once I'm Catholic, haha. I'm right there with Halla.

Being anti-religion is pretty extreme. I'm sure you meant to word that differently. :p

I like you're outlook on this, well said. Being a Catholic in remission is fun, take it from me: Convert, repent, forget about it!
